Field Course with Beer: What Do Trees Know? Saturday June 23, West Sixth Farm, Frankfort KY.
This Field Course is focused on our new understanding of trees and forests. We know that trees are highly connected to each other, and to other organisms in their community in complex networks of chemistry and information. Trees know and care for their babies. Trees fight back against their enemies and nurture their friends. Trees have exquisite knowledge of their environment and constantly adjust their behavior to live an optimal life. Are they intelligent? That is important question that we will discuss.
In this Field Course, we will observe the behavior of trees and their interactions with other organisms to explore this question: What do trees know? We will get down and dirty, digging up roots, dissecting logs, and experiencing the lives of trees. This course requires no prior knowledge of biology or tree identification.
This is our first course at the beautiful new West Sixth Farm in Frankfort, KY. Each adult participant will receive a souvenir glass and a glass of beer in the Farm taproom. Additional beer can be purchased in the taproom. The course will begin at 9:30am and end by 1:30 pm with additional time allowed after the course for discussion and beer.
The cost is $30 per person. Children accompanied by an adult are welcome, and there is no charge for children under 18. Dogs are not allowed.
